Feeling Like Rucker

For those who sat at home on Valentines Day like me, did you happen to watch the Rising Stars Challenge?

The Run Down:

  • Final: Team Hill 142 - Team Webber 136
  • Game MVP: Andre Drummond (Team Hill) who finished with 30 points and 25 rebounds.

The Battle:
So every now and then in an All-Star game one could possibly witness a "battle" or a shootout, tonight was one of those times.  In a four minute span, 31 points were scored, you might say "Oh that is pretty good," but those 31 points were by Dion Waiters (Hill) and Tim Hardawa Jr. (Webber).  It literally felt like I was watching Kevin Durant's Rucker Park performance he had during the NBA lock-out a few summers back.  One three by Waiters, then one by Hadaway, repeat a few more times and the game went from "okay" to "holy shit" really quick.

The Monster:
Andre Drummond - "momma there goes that man!"
There goes Dre, dear lord man.  Drummond was a beast in the 28 minutes he played, just simply an animal out on the court.  Granted, as a person who admires his game and tries to follow him, I was not at all surprised by his performance of 30 and 25.

Final Thought:
Okay, so Andre Drummond will be an All-Star for years to come most likely and between him and Anthony Davis, will probably be the best two big men in the game for years to come as well.  Dion Waiters hustled more on that close out on Hardaway's pump fake than Waiters has the entire season on defense.  He must have really wanted to win that game.  Hardaway should be seeing quite a few more isolation situations in New York, I mean it is not like the Knicks have a whole lot to lose at this point, right?  Who can forget about the Celebrity Game though.  Real quick, Arne "Oscar" Duncan looked like Jesus Christ and his All-Stars out there tonight.  Bruce Bowen lost a bit of his touch since his playing days it appears.  I think that Kevin Durant and James Harden miss each other, maybe James should ask for trade?  No?  Okay, calm down just a thought that had some sarcasm in it.  All-Star Saturday Night should be a fun one.  Damian Lillard will be competing in events ranging from the dunk contest all the way to the potato sack race held outside of Smoothie King Arena.

One Last Bone To Pick:
Okay, ESPN, y'all have really screwed it up this time.  How can you guys do the top 32 dunks from the NBA dunk contest and not include Jason Richardson, Vinsantiy's 360 reverse windmill or honey dip dunk, Dr. J, and no disrespect to the game's greatest but lets all be honest here, Jordan's free throw line dunk is probably the most overrated dunk.  Why not put the cradle dunk in there?
